Educational Institutions

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) is a Canadian immigration program that allows the province of British Columbia to nominate individuals for permanent residence in Canada. It aims to address labor shortages and promote economic growth by selecting candidates with skills, work experience, and the ability to contribute to the province’s development.

  2. The BC PNP has multiple categories under which candidates can apply:

        1. Skills Immigration Stream

    This is for workers with the skills, experience, and qualifications needed to contribute      to the province’s economy. It includes several sub-categories:

      • Skilled Worker: For individuals with at least two years of work experience in a skilled occupation.
      • Health Care: For health professionals such as physicians, nurses, and medical laboratory technologists.
      • International Graduate: For recent graduates from eligible post-secondary institutions in British Columbia.
      • International Post-Graduate: For individuals with a master’s or doctoral degree in the natural, applied, or health sciences from a BC institution.

    2. Express Entry BC Stream

    This is for candidates who are eligible to enter the federal Express Entry pool. It includes:

      • Skilled Worker: For individuals with work experience in a skilled occupation and an Express Entry profile.
      • International Graduate: For those who have recently graduated from a BC post-secondary institution and have an Express Entry profile.

    3. Entrepreneur Immigration Stream

    This stream is for individuals who want to invest in or establish a business in British Columbia. It is aimed at experienced entrepreneurs who can help stimulate the province’s economy.

    4. Tech Pilot

    This is a part of the BC PNP that targets tech workers who have a job offer from a BC-based tech company. The Tech Pilot was introduced to address the shortage of tech workers in the province.

    5. Entrepreneur Immigration – Regional Pilot

    A sub-stream aimed at encouraging entrepreneurs to establish businesses in smaller communities throughout the province.

    Candidates usually need to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI), after which they may be invited to apply for the nomination. The BC PNP also requires applicants to meet specific eligibility criteria, including proof of work experience, language proficiency, and, in most cases, a job offer from a BC employer.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) prioritizes certain occupations to address regional labor shortages and support the province’s economic growth. As of January 2025, the key priority sectors include:

Childcare:

Early Childhood Educators and Assistants (NOC 42202): Individuals with a job offer in this occupation may benefit from targeted invitations to apply.

  • Construction:
  • Skilled Trades Workers: Workers in the construction sector must meet specific requirements to benefit from targeted invitations. The job offer must be for an indeterminate, full-time position in a priority construction occupation, and the individual must have a valid trade certificate issued by, or an apprenticeship registered with, Skilled Trades BC.

  • Healthcare:
  • Healthcare Professionals: B.C. has a critical need in key sectors of the care economy, specifically healthcare. Occupations such as physicians, nurses, and healthcare technicians are prioritized to support B.C.’s care economy.

  • Technology:
  • Tech Occupations: The BC PNP provides B.C.’s technology sector the continued ability to recruit and retain international talent in tech occupations when local skilled workers are unavailable.

  • Veterinary Care:
  • Veterinary Professionals: Occupations in veterinary care are also prioritized to support B.C.’s care economy.

Please note that these priority occupations are not the only ones eligible for the BC PNP. Priority occupations may receive a targeted invitation once a registration is submitted.
