Study in Canada

The goal of gaining admission to a Canadian institution or university and obtaining a study permit is the aspiration of millions of applicants worldwide. For many international students, their time spent studying in Canada is fascinating and fulfilling. After determining what to study, you must take into account English language proficiency standards, application deadlines, and entry dates. The short-term summer language courses, continuing education, and exchange programs offered by Canadian colleges and universities complement their offerings of BA, MBA, PhD, certificate, and diploma programs every year.

The study permit is a document we issue that allows foreign nationals to study at designated learning institutions (DLIs) in Canada. Most foreign nationals need a study permit to study in Canada. Make sure you have all the documents you need before you apply. You should apply before you travel to Canada. Your study permit is not a visa. It doesn’t let you enter Canada. You may also need a visitor visa or an electronic travel authorization (ETA). If we approve your study permit, we’ll issue one to you with your study permit. Study Permit Extensions

Once you arrive at the Canadian border, the officer will stamp your passport or travel document and mark the expiration date of your study permit, which is the day you must depart Canada. The permission granted at the time of your admission into Canada also shows the study permit’s expiration date.

The expiry date on your study permit indicates when you must stop studying and leave Canada.
The expiration date can be seen in the top right corner on your permit. This date is typically the duration of your academic program plus 90 days. The additional 90 days allow you to prepare to depart Canada or to extend your stay in Canada.

Frequently asked questions

I’m an international student in Canada. Can I work while studying?

You may be eligible to work in Canada while studying, if your study permit includes a condition that says you can work on or off campus. You must also meet all the other requirements. You can only start working in Canada when you start your study program. You can’t work before your studies begin.

What is PGWP and how it works?

The PGWP is an open work permit issued to foreign students who have graduated from a designated learning institution.

It allows you to gain work experience in Canada and can help you become eligible for a variety of federal and provincial immigration programs (which sometimes require that candidates have qualifying Canadian work experience to become eligible for a given program).

The PGWP is valid for a period equivalent to the program of study you completed in Canada. Its duration can range from a minimum of 8 months to a maximum of 3 years.

What is Study Pathways to Permanent Residence (PR)

The post-graduate work permit program is not a direct PR track. Your Canadian study and work permit, however, can be used to gain permanent residence in Canada.

Many international students prefer to stay in Canada permanently after completing their education. Fortunately, overseas students seeking permanent residence in Canada have numerous options. If you have any questions or issues concerning the Study to Permanent Residence program, please contact us; our immigration experts will find a solution for you.

Can I Change Schools or Programs While on a Study Permit?

With a Canadian study visa, you can change schools or programs whenever you choose. To do so, ensure that you are following the proper procedure and abiding within the terms of your study permission.
